A: Takasu Ryuuji | B: Aisaka Taiga | C: Kushieda Minori | D: Kitamura Yuusaku
The story schematic is as follows: A has a one-sided romance with C. B has a similarly one-sided romance with D. A and B are both too shy to confess their feelings to C and D. So when A finds out B's secret and clumsily tries to calm her down by sharing with her his own secret, the two decide to help one another out! Due to A's gentle nature and B's tsundere nature, B uses her leverage over A (b/c she is C's very best friend) to become the bossy boss of the relationship with A being her loyal, more-intelligent manservant. A and B come up with one plan after another but nothing seems to work. With time, A and B wind up falling in love with one another instead.
If this sounds unoriginal to you, that's because it is. However, one quick look at the first episode (and, if that hooks you as it ought to, the second right after that) will convince you that ToraDora brings a lot of fresh and funny particulars to the tired old story schematic.
Personally? I loved the first episode and I loved loved loved the second episode. So much so that I've kept from watching the third episode and will try to keep that habit up until much more of the series has aired. It's so good that having to wait 7 days for only 25 new minutes of material is unbearable!
Footnote: the ryuu in this common Japanese boy's name means "dragon." The Japanese would pronounce the word "dragon" as doragon. Also, the Japanese word for "tiger" is tora; and taiga is how they pronounce our word for that one. Hence the name of both the television series (ToraDora) and the main two characters (Ryuuji and Taiga) are puns based off of the Dragon and Tiger from the Chinese zodiac. Thus ToraDora is a love story about the unlikely coupling of a Dragon-type with a Tiger-type.
